Bannerman's Alight shows a local landmark in flames. Bannerman's Castle, as it is sometimes called, stands on Pollepel Island in the Hudson River just north of Storm King Mountain and Breakneck Ridge. Built in the early 1900s as an arsenal by Francis Bannerman, the castle was ravaged by an explosion and fire in August of 1969. Now the Bannerman Castle Trust is trying to stablize what is left so this unique structure can be enjoyed for many years to come.
